OMG! If my close friend gets on benefit I can expect phone calls every week! (yeah we have that relationship). Am happy hearing from him ONCE a month by call. He pushes it after 3 weeks. Sometimes even two! If he was on benefit? Especially the convo will go bad to dreadful!

I don't see any issue with it, although it usually ends up with one or the other parties developing stronger feelings, and it can then become difficult.

Interesting.... Never tried such with a friend. Can see a number of pitfalls that one might encounter, but it would be dependent upon the friends. As well as if there were significant others in the picture.
