I understand what you mean and there are subtle hints that you can give them to let them know you don't have any interest in them physically, but you appreciate them as an individual. And I'm sorry it is awkward for women when guys they don't like be drooling on their uniform or trying to hang out later.

It is very difficult to make that line clear. If you're not cool and distant, everybody, attractive or not, thinks you're flirting.

Tell me about it, I recently struck up a friendship with an older man thinking it would be safe. He got obsessed now it appears he's after a relationship.
