I Have Been In An Abusive Relationship

This song remind me of how things were in my first marriage. I meet him when I was 18 and we got married when I was 20. He was very abusive in most every way possible. Yet he always claimed he loved me so much. He always said he would change. Which I always bought. Hoping things would change. I stayed for 8yrs. Around our 7th yr together I had a sudden realization that if he hadn't changed already in the time we had been together he was never going to change. I decided to find a way out. He always told me if I ever left him he would hurt me. And one time said he would kill me if I did. Finally I convinced him to go visit his parents, who were half way across the country. While he was there I called him and told him I was done, I wanted a divorce and to never mind coming back home. I'm glad I made it out. I just wish I had done it much sooner.
