Kids, husbands and dogs
It’s not that they are needy or whiny. They just cannot stand to see a grown woman sitting down.
I think it’s called weaponized incompetence.
Currently, my dog Chloe is my only nestling. She changes the things she needs my immediate help with. Sometimes after I put down her food she just sits by the bowl, gazing at me, as though usually when she’s eating I spring the trap and snatch it away or kick her into the middle of next week. Saying, “It’s okay, silly! Eat.” No. I have to get up, pet her and say, “It’s okay!”
Then she dives in with her normal insatiable Corgi appetite.
Sigh.
