My friend and his wife wants their daughter to be with my son

This couple really love my son and my son and their daughter have been friends for quite a long time.

So a few months back already they started calling him their son in-law and they would refer to her as my daughter in-law.

Them about 2 months ago my buddy and I were out having some drinks and he told me that he wants me to create situations where the two of them would be able to spend more time together so they can build on a strong relationship. So their daughter would come around with me and she and my son would actually have a blast!

Oh my son and his daughter are already aware of what the girls parents want. But he also said it has to be their decision to be together. But so far the two of them have amazing chemistry when they are together.

My mom just passed away on Friday, 2 October and my son was devastated as he was very close to my mom. And this girl saw his pain. And my son didn't wanna talk to anyone or even eat. Then the girl's mom told her to go around with me and check on him. So I took her around and within 2 minutes he started lighting up and she was able to get him to talk and smile again... That was beyond amazing to witness.

At the funeral this past Saturday, my son was hurting again and the girl came up to me saying she was watching him closely and can see on his face that he is really hurting and she had tears in her eyes while she was talking to me and watching him at the same time. But she wanted to give him space while my son's mom was attending to him (we are no longer together).

Then yesterday my sister and I went around to the girl's mom as she was a very close friend of our mom who passed away. Then girl asked her mom if she could come visit my son today after she is done with school and has attended to her home duties. The mom agreed so I will be picking her up later and bring her to my son.

Now I KNOW most westerners would have alot to say. Even me as a Coloured South African, we would not do arranged relationships like this... But based on my experience and the experience of her parents and also us seeing the world being as crazy as it is, we have raised out kids in a way which makes them actually stand out just by their behaviour and manners alone. And this is what prompted the girls parents to say that they really love the gentleman I have raised and they do not want their daughter ending up with someone who will not appreciate her.

So far everything seems to be working out and I can see they are both really happy when they are together.

I know you will have many questions, but just know that both of them already seem happy.

And as for their ages?... My son is 14 and she is 12... And NO there is no sexual contact involved. It is always supervised by either myself or her mom or her dad. Or both me and her dad together. We are just encouraging a relationship between two young people who we all want to see happy one day.

I know I didn't give all details so I guess I need to prepare myself for comments 🤦‍♂. But we really are trying to do things a bit different.

personally i have nothing against arranged marriages so long as they take the individuals thoughts and feelings into consideration as well

It seems that, informally, you and the other family have already 'arranged' the marriage in your heads. A 14yo boy and a pre-teen girl are in no way experienced in the world and are easily manipulated as their emotions are maturing. It may or may not be right when they have matured and have had a chance to experience life away from the family for them to become life partners. Parents need to bring them up to a place where they can make their own decisions. Then, and only then, should they offer marriage advice when invited to do so.

@FreddieUK 🤦‍♂ and THAT is why I said in the post that my it is THEIR decision to make. Did you even read the post properly?

There's a saying... Read to UNDERSTAND and not read TO REACT.
