Tip for the fellas

When a woman is upset because of something you did it
is not appropriate to tell her to "simmer down "and she is not going to "simmer down".
I don't believe a guy would take that kind of advice any better than a woman would.
If you opened up to a woman ,because you were upset with something and they just dismissed it as unimportant can you really say you would react any differently?
I think both men and women are looking for some respect and for a caring soul.

Hang on hang on, why is it not her fault?

@SirNedKelly I'm not talking about being someone's fault
I'm just saying that nobody would like to be told to calm down when they're upset.
I really don't believe men would like it either .
if you were upset by something she had done and you tried to talk to her about it but she just dismisses you and acts like it's not important I think a man would rightfully be upset by that.

Yeah it doesn't work. I learned that early on. Also standing while a woman is sitting and upset doesn't help a conversation either. It can infuriate her more. I learned that too.

Men and women think differently and though one's train of thought should complement the other. It seldom does. However, I think if we tried to make that possible, it would improve our communication.

@Sapio I think if a woman's intimidated sometimes they come out fighting if that makes sense about the standing up?

Think you have to value each other's opinion and then it will be more acceptable.

If a woman already thinks she knows it all ,I know that's a joke ,but some women really do think that everything they think is correct and everything a man thinks is wrong, I'm not sure you're going to do much to change it you have to decide if you can live with it at that point or if both parties are willing to seek out counseling.

Most men need to learn what a reflective conversation is.

That said, it wouldn’t hurt women to realize that men are simply wired much differently and our synapses work in very different ways.

Best of luck in all of your dealings with us. We’re all very flawed creatures.

@HikingMan oh, of course, nobody's perfect.
But ,I don't believe a man would take what some women are expected to take ,by some males ,any better it just looks different.
Men call it nagging when a woman tells them what to do and women call it lecturing ,but it amounts to the same thing really.
Communication is always key and having a willingness to listen to the other person's point of view.
We also have to realize we're not always going to have to agree with each other or understand each other, but we should be respectful and not dismissive.
Women are not always right and men are not always wrong ,but unless you have the conversations and the willingness, both sides, to not be defensive and to really listen things don't get resolved.
I do agree that men are wired different than women but sometimes men use it as an excuse for some appalling behavior.
I can see that women often want to soften the blow and don't realize men are more direct communicators.
It really comes down to honesty as well -what do you want from the relationship ?what will you tolerate?
Women are sometimes afraid to let that be known for fear of losing the relationship.
The sad thing is I think some guys are wanting to know and it's never discussed because of the fear and they lose a relationship anyway.
I don't know if this is true or not ,but I believe men if they feel like they cannot please a woman no matter what they do this causes them to want to end a relationship.

Simmer down is perilously close to "Calm Down". Note to self: Never use either phrase unless wearing a helmet with a full face shield.

@bowman81 it's always good to take precautions
