When Was The Last Time...

..., that you looked at your significant other and truly remembered the way it once was ?
How long have you been together ?
That feeling that they gave you inside that made you choose them ?
Do you still choose them each day in a fully full on type of way ?

When was it that you noticed the slip?
The fall off of emotions?

Was it comfort?
Was it options?
Was it them or you?

Are you blameless in it all and it's really just all their fault?

Tell me about your relationship and how it is or if it's ending, or maybe it just changed and you're not sure how it recovers. Maybe it's still perfect after all these years....

Go ahead, tell me.
I'm listening.

Hi there, thank you for asking.

Hubby and I met when we were 15. Broke up to go to college, got back together a few years later. We wanted to make sure.

We've been married for 37 years.

He's my best friend. We've been through hell and back and survived it all.

We are older, grey, slower, things don't work the way they used to.

We laugh a lot. We have long conversations and really enjoy each others company.

If I woke up and told him I wanted the moon, he'd sit down with his pad of paper and pen, make a few calculations and figure out how to give me a version of it. That matters to me.

I'd say the most important parts of our relationship is deep respect, strong commitment, and a sense of humor. Without laughter we might not have endured.

We wake up every day wondering how we can make each others day just a bit better.

He still gives me butterflies in my stomach and we still chase each other around the house, laughing all the while.

We PC game together, in different rooms. Right now it's Borderlands 4. They have new content right now, we celebrated with days off, snacks, pizza, gamed until we had to stop. Laughed all day long.

Life is a journey, it will break you, and it will surprise you too. I don't think about the aging and how fast the time goes. I just sit with today, in reality its all I have. I cherish every day. I am so damn grateful for all of it.

@dragonfly46 Thank you for the reply. I hope you don't mind me saying that I'm a little jealous ?

Happy for you both, but still a little jealous.

Wishing you years of future happiness and laughter
I think of this from time to time ....
It's been a long road of ups and downs and almost divorcing but we somehow pulled one another up ...it takes two to want to work on a marriage ...and the work will not stop and it won't always be easy but if you both keep choosing each other at the end of the day ...that is what counts...showing up for each other when it matters most... putting in the effort and never stop dating your spouse ....never stop taking care of yourself either ........this is real love ....it matters ....

@Chern0bylplaygr0unds The mutual work and effort is where most relationships seem to fail for whatever reason

If a woman posted this 20 minutes ago it would have 15 hearts and 27 comments by now.

I love SW.
But it’s still nothing like EP!
@HikingMan I don't think it's you. I think perhaps people aren't responding because they don't want to bring up that memory for whatever reason. It's an excellent question.

@LadyGrace It's not specifically me. It's a gender thing here.

Very few gentlemen get consistent engagement here on any serious topics.
There's plenty of examples I could provide where I have posted something that goes silent and a day or 2 later a female poster will bring up the same subject and be overrun with replies and reactions.

It doesn't bother me; I was just stating what I believe to be fact,
