Do you ever reach for me in the quiet spaces of your day?
A thought you almost send, a song you know I’d understand, something ridiculous that makes you laugh and think of me.
Do you ever wonder where I am, what I’m doing, whether I’m happy, whether I miss you?
I do.
Sometimes in unexpected moments, when a memory finds me or a song brings you close, when something happens, and you’re still the person I want to tell.
And I wonder if it happens to you, too.
If the space where I used to be feels different now.
If my absence has weight.
If you notice the missing the way I sometimes do.
If somewhere in your ordinary days there is still a place shaped a little like me.
Maybe you hear a song and remember us.
Maybe something brightens your day, and for just a moment you wish you could tell me.
Maybe, in certain alone moments, you think about me, too.
I hope you do.
Not because it would change anything, we know what we had mattered,
But sometimes I just want to know that you still feel the weight of it, too.

@bookerdana That’s a beautiful way to describe it - the strange weightlessness of someone no longer being there, while the missing of them can feel heavy.
