What Would It Look Like ?

Today I was asked what I would want from a future relationship, and what that would look like?

As I contemplated the answer I found out that I don’t really know right now.

I really tried to think about it too, but mostly all I know right now is what I don’t want it to be.

What do you want your future relationship to look like?

Knowing what you don’t want is just as important, I think. Knowing what you won’t accept.

I’m not looking for a future relationship, but if I was I’d know what I’d want and what I wouldn’t.

…thinking. It’s really hard to not let the “what I don’t want” to filter in.

My future relationship would look like unquestionable safety and security on both sides. Being their person, and them being mine.

I think sometimes that I’m just too far out there and just overthinking it all.


But as I come away from the recent past, and given my longing to love and be loved, I find myself wondering if I just kept settling for what was almost close?

I’m going to ponder this exact question for the next couple of weeks as I try to figure out exactly what I’d like my next relationship (if there’s even one out there for me) to really look like.

@HikingMan Just be easy with yourself as you take that journey of the mind and heart. I think my mulling over will consist of months, if not years until one day the light switches on and my vision is completely clear of the future desired. I’m okay with that though.

I have plenty of work that I want to get done so that I can be the me that I really want to be for someone special.
