Knowing that no one is attracted to me, no one has a crush on me or wants me and hasn't for a long time makes getting older settle in.

Knowing I'll be alone for the duration of my life...

Knowing I won't have to expose myself to anyone's ego or delusions...

I won't be put on any pedestals or expected to perform to someone else's expectations...

It's actually quite peaceful.

I don't feel insulted, as I'm well aware how shallow most people are, I know why I'm not chosen.

Maybe I was a diamond in the rough at one point, but nobody saw me, not really, so now I sparkle and shine for me.

I think that is what we are here on earth for.. to find what makes us special. It doesn't always have to follow a usual pattern.
There is a path you followed to get to where you are now. Life choices you made and continue to make that can and have affected that path.
The path is not set for any of us, you still have choices.
If you are unhappy with your current path, change it, but it sounds like you are OK with it. Good for you.

@ScreamingFox I really only miss company when I travel alone but after 6 cruises alone you learn to make friends
