when you chat with some one here do you reply in actual sentences?

@DancingStarGoddess i don't blame you. chatting takes effort and it is no longer reciprocated. in the early days of the internet it was... the golden days!

@guyroberts It's not so much that, I just like the general banter back and forth with many people across multiple posts and topics. When I end up in my DMs, often it's with someone who has engaged me with little to nothing to say, expecting me to carry a conversation they started and I end up feeling sort of cornered or held hostage there wondering when they're going to finally tell me why it was they actually messaged because it certainly wasn't to ask "how r u?" Tragic. 🙈 Rather be left alone if they're going to do that.

@DancingStarGoddess often for me I message people because I want to have some human to human connection and when there is effort on both sides these types of chats with starngers can feel like oone is really connecting on a deep level. Ever had that?

@guyroberts Of course, but I don't want a deep connection with everyone I come across here or I would never log out, I fear. Lol. Considering I like to randomly disappear from this place sometimes for years at a time it wouldn't be a good thing. I think people would find it quite hurtful and I am fairly mindful of what I put out into the world... At least as far as interactions with other humans go. I prefer not to harm if I can help it.

@DancingStarGoddess haha, I think we have something in common. I come back here like once a year for a few weeks and then tend to hibernate again. I come back when I miss it. have we ever chatted before?

@guyroberts I doubt it. Lol. I was back for a second a year ago but before that I had not returned for about six years time. I didn't really speak with very many people privately. I never really have. Just a few here and there and most are the same people through the years I've known.

@DancingStarGoddess so what brought you back here this time?

@guyroberts Notifications. Lol. I was suddenly getting a bunch in my email out of the blue from here about replies to old posts I had commented on or written when most had dried up ages ago. I came back to see what was up. I've stuck around a while this time, how long is debatable. I want to leave again every other day.

@guyroberts I'm not sure actually. It was a few and it's been since November I was getting them. The only one I can recall was one about ice cream and I don't know why people suddenly wanted to respond to that one. Very random. Lol.

@guyroberts Sometimes, yes. Depending on whether or not the person decides they want to ask me things. For some reason you seem particularly curious 🤨
