Ladies (of a certain age) what do you call him?

I'm in a relationship. I feel like I'm not "dating" as we both own our own houses so mostly he comes here I go there.

I said "boyfriend" and thought that something my teenage daughter would say not a woman of my age.

We're living apart so we're not partners and we're nowhere near that kind of commitment.

My daughter sarcastically referred to us as lovers the other day which I actually liked, being an old fashioned romantic. Better that friend with benefits or f#&buddy as my friend says!

So ladies over 40 what do you call him (or her)?

*Groans* I get that!

As you get older it feels silly to call the other person boyfriend or girlfriend. I married my wife a) when it was legal to do so, and b) in my 40's and my eldest daughter used to find it funny to call her my girlfriend, or lover for that matter.

I think we settled on something like, in my case, "This is Karen, we're together.." and then, later, my "other half..".

But it is a mindfield!
