How soon is too soon to move on to someone else after a break up ?

When I broke up with my first girlfriend, it was so intense that I didn’t date anyone for seven years. Well, actually, I went out with a girl for a few months and another one for a few weeks but generally I felt like I still belonged to my first girlfriend.
