All I Wanted Was A Quiet Meal Out
...but, interesting things happening in downtown Derby!
We park just a way out of town - around 10-15 minutes walk - and head off in.
Along the way there's this guy walking in front of us, stern kinda attitude, and there's this girl watching him.
Ollie is, of course, oblivious to this - being a man! - and i'm keeping an eye as we get closer.
"Ken?!?"
"Ken?!"
"Ken?"....."WHAT?" shout - obviously! Ken.
"Ken?!"...."WHAT Tracey?" Ken replies back to the now-named Tracey.
"KEN?!?"....."DO NOT speak my name!" shouts Ken, standing still for a beat as we walk through this maelstrom of verbality.
And so it goes....
They're still going at it, as we have passed them, and from what I can make out, Tracey here has got Ken fitted up over some incident that he wasn't involved in...and got the Police involved. Ken, he says - many times! - wants nothing else to do with Tracey.
THEN Ollie notices.
I'm clutching his hand tight. I don't like this stuff.
Anyways, get to where we want to go. Sit down, have a lovely meal. Some Cola's to drink with out Sunday Roast. No pud for me. We tip, say thanks and head out.
Literally 10 mins from the venue, there's the Police around another bloke (man). Friends, or family, are talking to this other Policeman who's frisking the guy and pulling items...just like a magician...from out of his inside pocket.
No bunch of flowers or white rabbits, but....items from a shop.
As this is going on, a woman from his friends is pointing to the Policeman and saying "..It's people like you that give the police a bad name...."
What the heck?!? Me and Ollie smile at each other.
We just wanted a quiet time...
