What do you do if your partner decides they just aren't going to even try to improve your situation?

I am so mad he's put me in this position where I have to make a choice between saving myself or saving him. He wont even try to help himself or us. I am so fucking overwhelmed and now I am just completely on my own and forced to make some really awful decisions. It's a lose lose situation.

Alright end of rant, I need to get out of this angry headspace as it's not helping my situation.

It’s never easy to be in a position like that. But the whole airplane oxygen mask thing applies. Take care of yourself first. And then evaluate the next steps.

Easier said than done I know.

@BillyMack Yes, that's a good analogy for my situation

@SlippingAway hopefully there are some people you can reach out to. Maybe help you through the rough patches

@BillyMack Thankfully I have a few good people in my life rooting for me.

Don't let him drag you down. The healthiest relationships are ones where two people take care of their issues, especially toxic ones, and bring healthy selves to the relationship, which is not to say we all don't have some issues!!!

Save yourself every time. Some people can’t be saved and it’s not your responsibility whether they’re your mum, cousin or partner. It’s not really helping if you’re just going to drown along with them.

You can only save yourself. Can you temporarily go back to parents? Sounds like your current situation is very bad for you
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
@tobynshorty No not with my parents, but I may be able to stay with a family member for a short while until I can figure things out.

If he refuses to adjust and step up, leave. Its rather unlikely to get better, at least in my experience.

There comes a point where you have to look out for number 1 - this is one of those situations.

You can save someone's ass only if yours is safe
