26M and 17F ?

Hello,

I'm a 26M and I'm in a bit of a tough spot. I live in a small village in a rather rural area. At the beginning of this year I was at a party with my friends and met a girl there. She kept smiling at me and I really liked her so I decided to make a move. Well, I found out she was from the same village and since she was only 16 (I was 25 at the time) I immediately stepped away.

A few days ago I went to another event and saw her again – I’m 26 now and she’s 17. She kept smiling at me like before so we danced and talked a little. I think we do like each other but I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm well aware of the age gap and I want to emphasize that I'm not the type of man who intentionally seeks out much younger girls but sometimes life presents unexpected situations.

Before leaving the event I asked her out and she responded somewhat neutrally. I also sent her a Instagram request, which she accepted. I want to write her a message to thank her for the nice evening and ask her out again but I feel very unsure about it because of the age gap.

Should I wait until she turns 18 or simply forget her ? Even if I ask her out, I'm not sure if I wanted to date her right now. Probably I would wait until she's 18. I just want to find out if we can click together and whether there is any potential between us..

She is not interested. It doesn’t matter how old either of you are. Drop it and leave her alone.

@Pinkstarburst How do you know? Maybe she is shy.

She is old enough to go to parties and meet men in their twenties.
@emiliya We can meet many people at a party. It doesn’t mean we have to date anyone who asks. Perhaps she believes he’s too old for her. Or maybe she got a bad vibe from him. And adding someone to a social media page doesn’t necessarily mean there is an interest either…followers are just numbers on their list…especially when they are teens.

I considered not saying this, but your comment reminds me of someone saying a woman asked for “it” because she was dressed a certain way.

@Pinkstarburst He seems fine. He is so decent he comes here to seek approval to get with her.

Why do you speak on her behalf?
@emiliya It appears someone needs to speak on her behalf. We are only hearing his side. Personally, he sounds like he’s wanting validation for his desire to be with a child.

@Pinkstarburst The law says she is not a child where sex is concerned.
@emiliya Who said anything about having sex??? Wasn’t he just asking her out in a date????? Or is it just assumed that’s what’s expected if her??? Methinks you may be the author of this post.

@Pinkstarburst What else do couples do? Relationships are sexual. The male and female have sex. Are they supposed to be something different?

Why are you concerned if it is only a date?
