I was a red head, more like bronze, but in my twenties it gradually turned brown. My youngest daughter really has red hair so I guess the genes didn't get lost

@BridgeOvertroubledWaters yes the guy I dated was a little like that. Bright red as a boy though, then bronze or a reddish brown. As he aged his grey almost looked blond.
