At What Age Did You Know You Were Ready For Marriage?

I'm about to turn 75 and I'm still not ready. I've never understood why anyone would get married. Why would you want the government's approval and permission to share your life with someone? And it's probably only going to last a couple years. I remember being very young and looking at my parents and thinking if that's what it's like to be married I never want to do it. And I haven't.
