Why does ex keep calling me affectionate names?

My nex claims to be in a relationship but she keeps reaching out to me for chat and calls. When she does, she keeps calling me names like "sweetheart, darling and cupcake " I've never understood the games she's trying to play.?

Who broke up with whom? I've seen lots of examples of the woman ending the relationship because she thinks she has better options. Then after a while she realizes those options weren't as stable or financed like she had before...she will want to go back to the ex, after sleeping around and getting no commitment.
