Christmas Day Shenagins
At my fella's house, overnight, and wake up to Christmas songs, breakfast in bed and a few little presents.
Video call to our respective parents, 'cos we're not gonna be with them until Boxing Day, and then exchange a few gifts, big cup of tea.....
Then shower, change and get everything in order for the Christmas Day Event - Lunch, nibbles, games - with everyone. So, last count, we have 20 guests all told - different menus as some are veggie, most aren't - and thankfully Ade has a massive dining room.
They all start pouring in....big hugs and welcomes...lots of wine, vodka, beers and soft drinks handed out - there's some mini-busses, some have driven - and the day begins.
Cue Christmas music...some dancing....TV on at appropriate times - Indoctrinated into watching 'The King's Speech' every year, and the world goes silent when 'Wallace & Grommit', 'Dr Who', 'Gavin & Stacey' and 'East Enders' is on - there's board games - 'Monopoly', 'Pictionary' (You've never seen anything until you've seen a bunch of hookers arguing over a word!) and 'Twister' (We do a knockout stage on that!).
It's not wild. Certainly not like a 'New Year's' thing. Respectful. Fun. Everyone is fairly drunk, everyone is happy, some are banging out the cocaine. Whatever. They let their hair down. They enjoy themselves.
Me and Ade, alongside Amber, tidy up as best we could and we retire to bed.
God knows what the other's did downstairs when we left them.
Got up this morning, slightly hungover. Made tea for the girls and then they went on their merry ways back from whence they came...as we finished tidying up.
Sat down. Breakfast. Big hug.
Shower...change....head over to mine (we live together but he has his house, I have mine. We take it in turns to live at each other's property. We have double everything!) to prep and sort dinner for my mum and dad.
