How to sit on the Back seat of a Girl’s Yamaha scooty ?

I liked her back in college—we’re not super close, but we’ve stayed in touch. She’s an architect now, doing pretty well in her career (definitely ahead of me), Lately, she’s been asking me to hang out or go out on dates, but i have been avoiding it for I don’t entirely understand why.

We live in the same town, recently, she started offering to pick me up from my office since it’s on her way. Now I’m running out of excuses, and I feel like she’s starting to think I’m showing too much attitude. So, we finally agreed to meet today, and she’s going to pick me up at 7 PM. It’s 4:30 PM right now.

Here’s my problem: I’ve never sat on the back of a girl’s scooter, and I’m nervous and awkward. I have no idea where to keep my hands while travelling, and how to hold on if there’s sudden braking. I don’t want to make her uncomfortable. should I keep some space between us, or is it normal for my legs to be close to hers while sitting? Im overthinking.

You can hold on to the side of like where her waste is. Sort of hold on to her jacket or clothes. That will not be awkward. It will be fine. I would hold them tightly so that in case she breaks you'll have something to hold on to. She'll probably go slow and I think it will be a lot of fun so please don't overanalyze. Just go and have fun.

@LadyGrace ✨ yeah she arrived speeding but went slow after i sat.. and i totally forgot my nervousness after talking.. she told me to pull out her phone from her jeans pocket and keep it with me.. so i knew she was comfortable.. other guys here suggested to hold her around waist, she’s gonna pick me daily maybe i’ll get more free slowly.. im just a computer person it makes us awkward around real people..
@Authoritarian sounds like you did good and certainly you could hold on around her waist. I'm so glad you enjoyed the ride and that she went slow.
