Apart from Emmanuel Macron who has an older wife, you only see older men with young brides. What age gap should there be?

Should marriage be about equals, or is it acceptable for a difference in years? In times gone by, a man would make a success of himself, and maybe in his forties look for a bride between eighteen and twenty five, to make children with and a family. She would have her interests, and he would work. She would be based around her home and children, he his business.

I don't think the age gap itself is important. More important is how old the youngest partner is. If she or he is 18, then I don't think the age gap should be too wide. But if he or she is, say 29 or 30 years old, then I think they'd likely have the life experience to be able to understand the true implications of a wide age gap. Younger people aren't likely to truly appreciate that aspect.

@Richard65 absolutely correct. My wife was 17years my elder but we had an amazing marriage and loved one another right up to her passing.
