Instinct tells me no, he may still care for you but not love with the line “I don’t deserve her” , that’s someone looking for an excuse to let you down gently. My question would be why didn’t he say that to you himself probably because you would see through it. It smacks of the “it’s not you it’s me”. Another evasive line.
