Thank you Harmony.
We were teenagers in a movie theater, holding hands for the first time. Fingers caressing one another slowly, eachothers palms, back of the hands, interlacing. All done with the utmost care and sensitivity. Breathing heavily and flush all over, but trying your hardest not to show it.
Once I got drunk at a party and fell and cut myself pretty bad, so she bandaged me up, held my head in her lap and caressed my hair, saying nice things and how she wanted to make sure I was OK. She gave me everything she knew I needed but could never bring myself to ever ask for.
I miss that feeling of innocence and exploration and excitement. Deep mutual connection, were everything aligned just right. I'll always remember that moment, that girl. Harmony was her name, and she was gentle, smart, kind, and about as pretty a young girl you could imagine. What a name to have, too. She really lived up to it.
I'll take those memories and feelings we shared so many years ago with me to the grave. Some things that happen in our lives just stay, and never fade.
Thank you Harmony.
