The only time people really hate others is if someone is doing something to make one's life more difficult.
Like uncooperative neighbors, thieves, vandalists, violent criminals, some prick boss at work...
Most people do not fit into such categories.
I think most of us worry about being hated or looked down on or whatever. We worry what others think, or they do not like us, etc.
I think it stems from ruined self esteem when we were kids and people did judge us or made us feel inferior. In the real world people are not AS quick to judge because we know we are ALL screwed up and have no room to judge.
