Wouldn’t be best pleased
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
I know many people get annoyed with this but I don't get why.
'Let you,' implies ownership too. Like he is the sexual/moral guardian. If a guy dates his friend's sister and treats her badly, that is a major issue obviously. But this is not the question.
I became friends with my brother in law after he started dating my sister. By the same logic, this would not be allowed.

How about the "It's none of my brothers business who I date" code???
The only time my brother gets a say is when he is the third wheel in the relationship - which is never.

None of my business
Eternity · 26-30, M
If he was a stand up guy that i knew would treat her right sure.
My logic is: she's going to date someone right? So might as well be someone I know very well to be a good person.

my sister is now single. She is a adult, I get no say in who she dates. if one of my mates ended up dating her, he better treat her right. thats all i will say on it
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
That would feel a little weird lol but who am I to stop two people from getting together if they really want it
Menetics · 26-30, F
@deadgerbil I respect my brother too much to be involved with one of his friends.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@Menetics yeah it would be best if people didn't put others in that situation to begin with lol
popmol · 26-30, M
kinda against it but depends on the situation.
DragonFruit · 70-79, M
A long time friend of mine did date one of my sisters....and I don't have any problem with that.
cd4259 · 61-69, M
If I had a sister, why not, if they like each other and treat each other well, no problem
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
I dated a friend's sister. He didn't like it. I personally don't see the problem.
BiasForAction · M
Haha I like him for saying that
RadioDust · 36-40, M
I care too much for my friends mental health to allow him to date my sister
SomeMichGuy · M
If I had a friend who wanted to try to do that, I'd warn him and make sure that he understood that I was a) doing so in good faith, and b) washing my hands of the whole mess.
Menetics · 26-30, F
@SomeMichGuy The reason my brother doesn’t want me dating his friend is that he doesn’t want the drama that comes with it. I don't want to ruin their friendship if we didn't work out too.
SomeMichGuy · M
@Menetics My sister is a mess and also currently swings a different way.
But I think *your* situation is likely common; esp. if you have a good relationship with a sibling, why *wouldn't* you like to choose from people he or she likes, etc.? Makes sense.
Your thoughtfulness about what might happen if things go sour is very wise; refreshing and delightful. I think you are better suited to navigate these dangerous waters than the typical person in a similar position. 😊

If they are my friend, then they must have a good personality, so I don't see why not. I also don't see why I'd have a say in it though.
Japrost · 41-45, M
Who cares
MrGoodbar · 51-55, M
its not against Bro code but your brother is probably worried about your friends being respectful and treating you right
dale74 · M
I had a friend and i never asked her out her bro was like you should have bad part was she was engaged to another guy by that time.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
No “bro code” should get in the way of two peoples’ happiness.
Wol62 · 51-55, M
I didn't even know there was one, is that like the ho code?
TheotherAndy · 41-45, M
I think I would, but I’d be protective
ArtieKat · M
As far as I can remember, only one of my friends has ever shagged one of my sisters. I neither had any say in that, nor would I want to have done. In my opinion the only grounds for intervention would be if one party was an adult and the other was a child.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Well one of my friends married my sister
HannibalMontanimal · 26-30, M

If my friend was a person that treats women well and is likely to be good for my sister I'm all for it. I'd rather she date someone I know will treat her well. As she deserves. I'm okay with my friend focusing on my sister and having less time to hang with me.

I wouldn't punish my friend in that way 🤔

If it was one I knew for sure would never do her dirty I would have been glad for it
Going down bad if he did her dirty though

I don't have a sister but I'd be happy to let a friend of mine date my brother. I have good taste in friends, just not in partners
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
I notice that people who dont say no on here are majority well known perverts
Pretzel · 70-79, M
not knowing what a perv he is
and of course my sister will be a virgin even after her 3rd kid
it's the way of man

Anything associated with the word "bro" is stupid to begin with.

Depends on how I see my friend. If he's a good dude, then I don't mind. However there's a bro code. If my friend dates my sister without asking how I feel about it first... that's breaking the code
