I'd never heard of the word before, but I know of the technique.

Dunno about later ones, but the original edition of The Joy of Sex mentions that French women used to dab it behind their ears to stimulate their lovers and, if I remember correctly, recommended it.

Fine by me: the smell of a clean vulva is one of the most intoxicating scents known to man... pheromones indeed!
