@HoraceGreenley beepers are long gone. either the hospital calls or his service does
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@saragoodtimes I know. I was just trying to be funny.

@HoraceGreenley I know, he has to be at the hospital within a half hour of a call, severely limits what we can do the first weekend every month

@saragoodtimes I'm sure. I spent years on call myself as an IT administrator. I know the feeling well.

@HoraceGreenley as dept chief he's on call for any extreme emergency just doesn't have that 1/2 hour limit

@saragoodtimes It's a tough job that demands a lot of time. There's no two ways about it.

@HoraceGreenley being married to a doctor has some drawbacks. realized early on medicine is his first love but I'm OK with that

@saragoodtimes It requires a tremendous amount of dedication. i was Pre-med and decided not to go to medical school. I didn't like the movement towards greater regulation that I was seeing. I have several friends that are doctors and you'd be surprised how many have given up their license. The malpractice insurance premiums alone are frightening.
Of course it varies by specialty.
