Except when it wasn't regulated and rhe whole slavery, indentured servitude, mercantilism, company store, script pay, using armed guards to shoot any workers who went on strike or demanded fair pay amd time off, company towns, and child labour thing..
Capitalism isn't about owning your own work, it's about the employer owning your work and taking part of the profit from it. It's about capital.

@MethDozer I can tell you don’t read much but awhile ago the 13th amendment got passed. It was in all the papers. You critics of the best standard of living humans have ever achieved and the capitalism that made it possible always cite the worst possible extremity. Would you like to discuss the real life extremities of socialism? The Soviet gulags, the Chinese organ harvesting, the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot, Castro or the Nazis interesting take on socialism?

@redredred I've read quite a bit bud, try reading something critical of your personal biases.
I'm not inherently anticapitalism, I'm just not delusional enough to think it is a perfect system that magically fixes problems on its own left unfetted. Like every other -ocracy and -ism it has it's road bumps to address and praising it like it works perfe tly left only to it's own devices and left completely unregulated. It's like every other man made invention and requires maintenance and tweaking. Nor is it the answer to every problem or offers a suitable solution for every situation. To say it is perfect and never needs to be adapted just verifies that y'all on the right have no grasp of the concept of entropy.
Again.slavery, indentured servitude, mercantilism, company store, script pay, using armed guards to shoot any workers who went on strike or demanded fair pay amd time off, company towns, and child labour happened and is what happens along with other horrible situations when there aren't regulations, responsibilities, and rules governing it.
