"Data" is plural but often spoken of as if singular.
And "contents" - things in boxes or messages - is not the plural of "content" - which describes mood!

@ArishMell Datum? And "content" describes mood pronounced on way, but describes the composition of something pronounced an other.

@ChipmunkErnie Datum - yes. I see it more often in engineering and surveying, the datum being the origin for most of the other main measurements.
