well this is a fun little rabbit hole.
so I was commenting on a post and followed up with how I'm kinda stoked to start using/starting my stories like 'well, back in aught-five, we used to...', which make me wonder and consider if it was supposed to be 'aught' or 'ought', which led me to a wikipedia article about naming zero in english:

and I think the most fun with this is that 'cipher' which I'd never quite realized or picked up on, so now I'm going to try to use the term 'cipher' like 'back in cipher five, we used to ... '
