"Sense and Sensibility" ...

is a novel by Jane Austen, first published in 1811. It tells the story of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate love, heartbreak, and societal expectations after their father's death leaves them in reduced circumstances.🙂

I adore this book. I ordered it a little more than 3 weeks ago, but I have been a bit lazy about cracking it open and delving deeply into the wonderful story. Today, I found the time, having finished my latch hook rug and a few diamond gem art projects, and I am just delighted with this book.❤

I have seen the movie twice, and although most of the time the movie doesn't do the book justice, I do believe this time it did.🙂

I find I can easily identify with her oldest sister, Elinor Dashwood, as she has the same sensibility and temperament I have always had. It may have something to do with my also being the oldest sister, but in any event, I just love her parts of the story. ❤

I am only into chapter 11 of the book, but I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes this type of story. It reminds me very much of Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women", which I also adored. 🙂

I find listening to this ambiance video to be very conducive to being able to get completely drawn into the book.

One of my favorite parts of that book is the series of conversations between Elinor and Colonel Brandon.

Frankly, I think they should have married each other.

@DrWatson This was my favorite part of the movie, but I have not yet gotten to this part in the book.🙂

I do agree, based on the movie, though. 🙂 I think it would have been a wonderful match, but it was clear that his heart always belonged to Marianne.🙂
