Why did they recommend you read the Bible?
Iwillwait · M
@swirlie They recommended the Book because it is the Word Of God, and aa manual on how to live your life, to it's fullest. Learning the insight of God's Nature & what Jesus has done for us (all of us) by allowing himself to be sacrificed for the atonement of our sins.

66 Books written 300 years apart that have had many prophecies come to fruition from the Old Testament into the New Testament, creating the most incredible and undeniable proof of God's Greatness, Grace and Love for us.

@Iwillwait
Yes, I know all that, but why did someone recommend that you read the Bible?
Iwillwait · M
@swirlie for those reasons.

@Iwillwait
Okay, but for a third time I ask, WHY did someone recommend that you read the Bible, which I ask just like the OP's question asks, but which you still haven't answered yet?
Iwillwait · M
@swirlie I was encouraged to read the Bible for all those reasons, to give me the insight on God's Word.

@Iwillwait

BUT WHY? Why would someone encourage you to read the Bible?
Iwillwait · M
@swirlie Because it is The Word of God, I would encourage you to do the very same. You'll have a great insight on how we are to Love one Another as if they are our selves, and to help one another in need, to realize the faults we carry deep within each and everyone of us and to know the God understands and is not looking for performance or perfection buy a relationship with you.

I understand what you mean when you say "the Bible is the Word of God", but for clarity here, the Bible is not the Word of God, it's the word of Jesus.

God did not write the Bible nor did Jesus write the Bible. In fact, the very first version of the Bible was written 60 years after the death of Jesus.

Now that we've got that small detail out of the way, you still haven't answered my question nor have you answered the OP's question.

Why would someone have reason to suggest that you read the Bible?

Why would that person make that suggestion to you?
Iwillwait · M
@swirlie Well, you are sort of correct. The first portions on the New Testament were written after Jesus' death , not by sixty years, the old Testament Books were written 300+ years prior to that all 66 Books of the Bible were written in a time span of almost 350 plus years by multiple different Authors on multiple contents all pointing in the the same direction. Over 2500 prophecies foretold and 2000 fulfilled and over 300 of those prophecies foretold we're about Jesus (300 years before his birth)

The mathematical possibility of any one of these prophecies to have come true is is to the Millionth 10 fold and there is over 2000.

If you ever have doubt, that is understandable, it would be like finding a needle in outer space.

That's why you need to read this Book. This collection of 1st hand accounts of what happened in their lives and the Divine Spirit speaking through these people and their lives is amazing.

@Iwillwait
I have already read the Bible many times and I've read many more versions of it that you haven't even mentioned in your rebuttal.

What still remains unanswered by YOU however, is WHY someone would recommend to you that YOU read the Bible in the first place?
Iwillwait · M
@swirlie OHy gosh. Please stop being such a pill.

Okay, but let me point something out to you...

The question of this thread asked "What is the last book that you read specifically because someone recommended it to you?".

You replied "The Bible".

My question to you was, 'why was the person who recommended that you read the Bible, thinking that you were specifically in need of reading the Bible?

Obviously that person must have thought you specifically needed to read the Bible, so what had you done that had led them to believe that you should read the Bible?

How did they know that you had NOT read the Bible up to that point in your life?
