Red Rising (Book)

Anyone read this book, I am coming to the end of the first book (listening to it on audible) fantastic. Randomly seen it recommended and have really enjoyed.

I read it a while back. pretty good, but it seemed to be setting up for a sprawling george rr martin level library of books to get the full story.

@dirge yes I believe it is split into two trilogy's so far book 1 of 6 almost done. 7th in production I believe
@Caraxes I miss the days when stories could fit entirely within a single book.

@dirge I get you. I don't have much time to read so audible has been awesome for me. Any car journey I'm by myself I listen and when I'm cooling down in the gym. For a book the size of Red Rising usually takes me about a month to get through. If I'm lazy and don't cool down in the gym even longer lol
@Caraxes I read a significant bit.. and audiobooks are always good. but lots of times it feels like it's a money grab. or you get someone who just decides to patrick rothfus up the project - lie about how long it'll take, wander around and do 6 other things and seemingly just forget about it as something to finish.

@dirge are we talking about GRRM by any chance 👀😂

I've all but given up hope for Winds of Winter.
@Caraxes sort of. martin was my motivation to never get into a series - like jordon(?) and wheel of time; it can drag out forever. or just never get done. then rothfus came along in the 2000s and said he had a series, it would only be 3 books. it was just about done. so I went in like a sucker. 20some years later, he's still not released the 3rd book. he's tangented off to a couple other things and spends all night on twitch talking about his charitable org stuff... but no book. and if someone asks about it he basically turns all diva about how he's an ARTIST with absolutely NO OBLIGATION to people who bought his books. so kinda like martin to the power of a ... I guess a lovecraft
