I like antiquarian books

I just started reading this one again. I bought it years ago, and I have read it in a hit-and-miss manner a couple of times, but I decided to give it a serious read this time. I really enjoy antiquarian books.🙂

I have the hard copy, but you can find it free online. If you are interested, I added a link below to a site that has the book in digital form. 🙂

"The Complete Home: an encyclopædia of domestic life and affairs. The household in its foundation, order, economy ... A volume of practical experiences popularly illustrated."

by Wright, Julia McNair, 1840-1903
Publication date 1879

UPDATE- Well, I put this book back in its' protective cover ' because I just couldn't read it anymore. It breaks my heart how much things have changed.😔

I love this little piece of a poem found at the end of the preface of this book.🙂

In CHILDHOOD'S hour, with careless joy upon the stream we glide.
With YOUTH'S bright hopes, we gayly speed, to reach the other side.
MANHOOD looks forth with careful eye, time steady plies the oars,
While OLD AGE calmly waits to hear the keel upon the shore.

"The Old Man's Advice to Youth" by William Henry Davies
