I used to love to read

I find it difficult to find the time to do so these days. I discovered audio books about a year ago and now I'm flying through books. What are peoples opinions on audio books is it as beneficial as actual reading.

Personally it has allowed me to enjoy books again although I feel guilty that I'm not experiencing them in the intended format.

I have learned a lot just listening to books, although I prefer the author to be reading their own book. I think I get slightly more out of it that way as you hear the tone the book was meant to be read in. Plus I can get on with other things!

@KuroNeko I totally get you. Hearing Neil Gaiman read Neverwhere was amazing.. and it makes cleaning the house a bit more enjoyable

@SW-User I miss having a job where I could listen for hours straight. Turned out to be the most educational years of my life lol.

@KuroNeko a friend introduced me to podcasts. Oh my , I was so much more productive in my old job, ear phones in well one ear so I could hear if someone needed me, instead of getting involved in inane negative office chat I was learning and enlightening myself.
