I Love Books

I’ve recently started reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, so far I don’t have a very strong opinion on it, I don’t love it but I don’t necessarily hate it.
The book is 814 pages long and I’ve just recently reached page 330, since I’ve been reading at a considerably slower pace than I would normally read. When I started the book on Sunday, I was hoping I would finish the book in a 3 days time, but I’ve accepted the fact that it’s not going to happen, since each chapter is unbelievable lengthy.

I’ve started part four of the seven parts of the book, and I’ve been told a multitude of times by people that have already read the book, that it’s a very “emotionally draining” experience to say the very least, and that it’s the worst part of the entire book. Already the book deals with very heavy topics, it’s already been a very sad piece to read, so the fact that I know it gets much worse is slightly intimidating. I’m just preparing myself for that. 😂

I am really hoping to finish the book in the next 2 days, so I can move on to the next one, but let’s be honest here, that’s probably not going to happen, judging by the fact that each chapter is on average 60 pages long.

Very impressed that you are willing to read something that you know is very challenging.. life would be dull if we only read safe, tame books.

I am also impressed that you usually read so quickly. I love to read but I am sooooo slow.. a book of normal size often takes me 6 mths to a year.

I’ve always been drawn to books that speak about serious issues, but this book in particular deals with a multitude of very intense and grievous topics rather than just one.
The book itself has received a lot of criticism because of this, but so far I can’t really say I hate it just because of the fact that it does bring up challenging topics.
