Well I'm south Asian. But I guess this applies to me too. Since we are more accustomed to reading English than our own mother tongue

well i see. so not only fiipinos prefer english but indians as well... i've been noticing people prefering english actually especially in the south east

English works perfectly for me. That's because in my country there are wayyyyyyyyy too many regional languages. English is the most preferred way to communicate to people who do not speak your regional language.
