I love his short story collections. A few of my favorites are The Mist, The Jaunt, 1408, Quitters Inc.

@SpectralMourning The think The Mist is one of his best.
I read pretty much all of them and Rage remains my favorite.

Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was probably the best one ive read. Ive read a bunch but thats the only one i really rememeber. Probably because they made a movie out of it though.

@Penny "Different Seasons". This also has "The Body" which was made into the movie "Stand by Me" one of the best adaptations done on King's work.

Oh man, pretty much all of his short stories...reading "You like it Darker" right now...not as good as his older stuff.
Definitely check out "Night Shift" which has most of his early short stories and also "Skeleton Crew" is another fantastic collection.

@SumKindaMunster Both these collections are very good. You can dip into them.
There is a rumour, just a rumour, that he has ghost or franchise writers now\
Yes, I was disappointed with You like it Darker.

I've not read any of his short stories, but I thought Misery was very well written and effective. Horror isn't really my thing, so after a chapter or two of The Fog I gave up reading him, even though he is a gifted author.
