new to me books

Sad in a way today our school recieved a large donation of Christian books from our county's public school system. Reason for one reason or another the system forced the librarians and some case teachers to remove the books from their shelves. One was an entire set of the original Elsie Dinsmore series. I'm guessing because the series is antipapist. Our local system is a very conservative system I'm guessing this decision was made at a higher level than the system. Oh well its a good addition to our school library and a few classroom libraries. I'm going borrow the Elsie books I read them as a kid looks like they going to be the family readaloud for awhile.

Edit: A friend mine i was talking to said that may not be it Elsie the main character of the series and her immediate family are depicted as loving and compassionate which in todays world of all southerners and especially slave owners of the time are depicted as evil. prob but that shows how ppl dont understand the complicated laws of the time.

@Mountainlady16 wow, u guys say phrases like "since before the war" and u refer to the independence war? I never even thought about it, how different is for you guys there. For me whenever I think "before the war" is usually ww2. Now I wonder if all americans think that way. How did u like Minnesota? What u liked there?

@Mildud i will say this the books have alot of moral teachings and teach quite a bit about history as Elsies family travels around the world and the United States. You can ignore alot the preachy parts of it
