The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

I have been attempting to read and understand this book for a few weeks, to strengthen my mind. However, for me, this book is like competing in the Olympics when I have only just begun to walk.😧

It is so hard for me to understand because, from my understanding, it is written backwards. This is because it is written from the point of view of a teaching devil, so things like referring to the Heavenly Father as the Enemy or the leader of the devils as The Father Below confuse me. This makes my mind have to put corrective (from my point of view) terms in place to understand what I am reading.🤷‍♀

I know there are some really wonderful lessons in this book. I mean, it is telling you how devils think and work, and at the same time, it tells you how they ( the teaching devil and student) think the enemy (Heavenly Father) works with humans and what the Heavenly Father wants for humans. Of course, this is all satire, but even in satire, there are truths.👍

I want to understand this book, and I am working hard at that, but it is challenging for me. I am sure most people can understand this book easily, but it is good, in a way, that I can't. It gives my mind a real workout, and I hope this will help slow down dementia.🙂

However, I do usually have a temporary headache each day when I finish reading.

STICK with it. It has been a long time since I read it but the memory persists. And it is funny too!
