Most aren't meant to be bad and aren't bad. At least the ones of a sexual nature.

They are banned by Puritan Conservatives and Old School Christian Leadership because they provide Comprehensive sexual education which they consider bad.

No one is supposed to know anything about sex until well into adulthood, in their way of thinking, save some body part anatomy and what periods and having babies is all about etc.

Many of the banned books discuss modern real world sex and all aspects of it, which to them has the same result as showing Dracula the Cross ...lol

@laurieluvsit I've not gone into during this period extensive detail about why I hate this genre of fiction but I'm going to based on your reply. you and me both share a love of spicy, it's not that sex is involved, it's not a conservative feeling within me that has lured me to hate Dark romance. To be blunt with you I despise this subgenre because for one thing thing this is not the kind of love story I myself want. even what many wouldn't consider dark romance like Twilight I find Edward to ultimately be too controlling, Bella to be too submissive and unconcerned, bwitched and ignoring red flag after red flag, Some young girl say nonsense they have the best relationship he protects her but this naivety forgets that he goes so far as to dismantle her car to prevent her from even hanging out with Jacob, He's not just protective he's overbearing and controlling he forbids her from making choices out of sheer jealousy at times and little more and then to make matters worse she's so caught up on him that when he leaves because he's afraid of hurting her she goes nearly catatonic unable to proceed in any sort of life without him, this kind of Toxicity are not the kinds of messages I want sent to young women. I know perhaps for many of them this is just fun and that many of them know these are not relationship goals or many of them are looking for ways to understand trauma and how to avoid falling into these traps themselves good for them and I know I'm probably a bit overly concerned since I watch a lot of content from women who see straight through these kinds of toxic relationships in the media. I mean how did I become aware of all these flaws but through women talking about them? But pile on top of that that if I read a love story myself I want one where the man treats the woman well. It's why I end up actually liking pride and prejudice despite the fantasy element of lower income ending up with a lover to. Since I don't have a lot to my own name I have potential, I am growing but a lot of it is struggling to be realized even now. I love titanic because Jack is poor. I like Pride and prejudice though because Mr Darcy hears her out and decides to solve every one of her objections. He doesn't just spit on her, he actually listens to her reply and reasons and either explains them away or fixes them. a
what I'm trying to say is I like Romance but have come to hate Dark Romance because I don't want the girl to fall in love with a man who mistreats her, I feel this same flaw in twilight extended to 50 shades Christian is even more abusive towards Ana and it's so eyerollingly stupid because it all just gets overlooked because omfg he's so hot and so rich like excuse me? this shit is stupid. I love ten things I hate about you probably most of all because everyone who was in it for the right reasons came out on top. The losers were the ones with the worst intentions. I just don't want a toxic love story, I've had enough of them. I'm not calling for Bans, Ijsut think they should be 1 starred and rejected by modern audiences, we deserve love stories that aren't like this.
