Book Review #4 Stranger In The Lake by Kimberly Belle

๐Ÿ’Ÿ Book 34 of 2024 ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

Genre: Thriller | Mystery | Suspense
My rating: 3/5 โญ
Goodreads rating: 3.62 โญ

The story revolves around Charlotte, who finds a woman's body in the lake near her home. As the investigation unfolds, Charlotte starts to question everything around her, including her husband.

The setting by the lake was well done. I could picture the cold water and creepy atmosphere. The story had good twists but the middle of the book dragged a bit, and I wanted more excitement.

One thing that stood out to me is that, like in some of KB's other books, the female lead often seems clueless and wallows in self-pity. This is a pattern I've noticed since reading two of her other books. Her relationship with her husband, Paul, added some tension, but it could also be frustrating at times.

The ending has some surprises, but I didn't feel completely satisfied with how everything wrapped up.

Overall, it is a decent read if you're into domestic thrillers with a moody, small-town setting. It's not the most memorable thriller I've read, but it had enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages.
