how to look after old paperback books

i have quite a lot of old paperback books now that i really love and cherish, but i'm wary about reading any of them incase i damage the book by opening it and the pages fall out?

has anyone got any advice about this?

You could try reinforcing the covers of them with plastic to make them stronger. They do sell non adhesive book covers online.
