Emile Zola ~ Les Rougon-Macquart

I was pleased to discover all the books in this series have a release from Oxford World's Classics, most under 10 dollars, so i might read this major work this way instead of the delphi classics versions. It'd be great if Balzac's Human Comedy were to be in good translations too, like i mean the whole thing.

1. The Fortune of the Rougons

2. The Kill

3. The Belly of Paris

4. The Conquest of Plassans

5. His Excellency Eugène Rougon

6. The Sin of Abbé Mouret

7. The Assommoir

8. A Love Story

9. Nana

10. Pot Luck

11. The Ladies' Paradise

12. The Bright Side of Life

13. Germinal

14. The Masterpiece

15. Earth

16. The Dream

17. La Bête humaine

18. Money

19. La Débâcle

20. Doctor Pascal

I’ve read Germinal, The Masterpiece and Nana, in translation.
I wish my French was better.

He compares well with Trollope, and far superior to Dickens.

@SW-User Dickens no slouch though, ty!

@SW-User Dickens nearly put me off reading for life. I hate his verbose style and long sentences. I quickly turned to Hemingway.

@SW-User You mustn't like Proust that much then.
