This is a very interesting question. From a Literary Standpoint one could go for some trope of a name. But then you look at real life, one of the most astonishing men in American history one of the most decorated members of the United States Marine Corps. A man who worked his way from being enlisted to being a general. And also one who when approached by the wealthy man of the 20s, to lead a clue that they were planning against the government instead turned them over
His name ..wait for it
Smedly Butler
And M can really kill a characters impact or lift it up,
I like names from history, for instance Roland, but that name does not hit in our time with any meaningful impact
Single syllable names often work very well when that combines both historical impact and a single syllable would be Drake
And do we want this person’s character to be “manly” or is it more of a thoughtful sort of person? I’m really enjoying thinking about this question
