Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time

Help us out here folks, are his books in this series enjoyable and worth reading?

They are like door-stops or bricks! Plus, there are dozens of them. Is it worth getting stuck in like a good one or will I get bored part way through the 2nd one?

It is a really good story and extremely detailed world. The books are written well for the most part. However, the author writes with more of a Tolkien type of naïveté. The books are written more with younger readers in mind. But the story gets very dark. There is no graphic sex scenes or real gore. Not GOT by any means. The author does begin to use repetitive, and after about 5 of theses tombs I mean repetitive , character mannerisms and behavior. Good read overall. The authored died before the finale was published. A secondary author was brought in to finish the series. Can’t remember his name. He worked from a nearly completed draft and notes from the Jordan and did a good job emulating him. I got out and of the fantasy genre so I’m sure there are more GOT type alternatives that are written more for adult focused realism. In my opinion I do think it is worth the read.

@RuyLopez Thank you! That is always what put me off fantasy. Will it just be a LOTR rip off and/or will I get bored part way through the series. But you've given me plenty to think about, I will have to goggle who the secondary author is.

@Wol62 Wheel is human based. Lots of intrigue. The story is unique. Not like LOTR.
