There's a follow up/sequel to the book called "up country" with a different storyline.

@EmilyMom Would you recommend it?
EmilyMom · 51-55, F

I loved the film and the book (which I didn't read until afterwards) was almost identical from what I recall. I thought the film was better as a film than the book as a book, frankly.

I've read it, it's one of his most disturbing ones. I'm a big fan of his writing
val70 · 51-55
@JohnnyNoir Oh yes, it's that alright. Makes one think
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@val70 it was a bit of a departure from his other books

I have not read the book. Not yet. I see it's about r ape and military and corruption.
IDK if it's a bookchoice I'll make. Not sure.

i read it but can't remember it...very sorry for the bad memories
val70 · 51-55
@akindheart The memories will be always there. It's how one works things out, that matters
akindheart · 61-69, F
@val70 believe me, i know that is true. i have bad memories too.
Only saw the movie ages ago. Didn't realize it adapted from a book.
