sorry i'm back to share another nighttime literary opinion no one asked for

House of Leaves is the most unsatisfying book of all time. It's overhyped and pretentious. The premise is great. But if I have to flip back and forth and read the book upside down and sideways and in a spiral and read a character's interpretation of another character's interpretation of this narrative in footnotes alongside the main text, maybe the story just doesn't... stand on its own? Also why is Johnny so unlikable?
