Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races is the best Young Adult novel (guilty pleasure) that I’ve ever read. With a subtlety built mythos and emotionally present characters, this book of supernaturally-gifted, hydrophilic horses on the coast of a small fictional island is ... oddly grounded in reality.

Mark Dunn’s Ella Minnow Pea, however, was a bore and a massive let down. I would rather bang my head between a 912 page Greek New Testament Concordance and an entire hardback collection of Time-Life Magazines coverage of World War II than read a single sentence spouted from this self-admiring putz of a “writer” ever again.

Thank you.

There's something very satisfying about reading the word "putz" lol. I think it's probably the sound of it. The abruptness; the uncompromising finality of it as a judgement.
